In 1806, as they were returning to "the States" and St. Louis, the Corps of Discovery was determined to explore more of present-day Montana. William Clark and his segment of the group, including the Shoshone woman Sacagawea and her young son "Pomp", descended the Jefferson River, ascended the Gallatin River, and crossed a drainage divide to intercept the Yellowstone River in the vicinity of today's Livingston, Montana. Using our custom-built boat, "Discovery", we follow their route.
This trip has lots of "Big Sky"scenery and big water to match. As usual, we'll read the actual words of Captain Clark from his own journals, explore his maps, and also discuss other exciting historic endeavors like the "Bozeman Trail." In season, there is also the opportunity for great tubing and swimming fun! |
